Schedule update

I promise I have a great story about the winner of last weekend’s Arctic Valley Open. I had hoped to have it written by now, but it will have to wait a little longer. I wasn’t planning to play in this weekend’s Palmer Invitational, but a last-minute change of plans means I am in it, […]

Two new nicknames

I was rolling over the moguls at the Moose Run Hill Course today with Brad Ross in the first round of the Arctic Valley Open and within our fascinating discussions we stumbled on some possible new nicknames for some of the holes. The first hole, to me is known as the Driving Range, for it […]

Three break 80 in first round of AVO

The Hill Course played tough today in the first round of the Arctic Valley Open at Moose Run. The course was in good shape and the greens rolled pretty true, but the holes were in some tough spots and scores were higher this year than in the past. This is the third year for the […]

An amazing moment at the AVO

A wise man once said life has its moments, and I had one of those today at the third hole on the Moose Run Hill Course, as part of the lead group in the Arctic Valley Open. After driving into the left trees at No. 3 and playing a wicked hook to get back in […]

AVO pairings announced

The Arctic Valley Open field is a small one for the third straight year. The 36-hole Moose Run club championship starts at 7 a.m., Saturday on the Hill Course and concludes Sunday on the Creek Course. The Friday night shootout was canceled due to lack of interest. The first group on the course will be […]

The Arctic Valley Open marches on

Think about that a minute and then think about this: it’s also the week of the third playing of the Arctic Valley Open at Moose Run Golf Course. The Arctic Valley Open has a pretty catchy name for […]

Trimmer takes title

Darci Trimmer continued her walk toward victory Sunday in the Women’s Senior State Am. Her second consecutive 76 was good enough to build her lead to 18 strokes in the 54-hole event at Palmer Golf Course.

Frost wins Masters

Gregg Frost won the Masters division at the State Senior Am in Palmer, shooting a final-round 75 Sunday to win by five shots over Rich Teders, a former Masters champ. Jung Han, another former champ, took third and rounded out a competitive trio who all shot in the 70’s for three straight day. Frost’s Saturday […]

Dolejsi closes strong

A day after he self-reported a three-putt from three feet, Marcus Dolejsi closed out his mid-am division victory with a 2-under 70 at Palmer Golf Course. The mid-am division was part of the Senior State Am, a division that included runner-up Kristopher Wood of Fairbanks, who was 23 strokes behind Dolejsi after a closing 79.
