Postponed

My indoor round of golf was canceled this evening, but we are going to give it a go on Saturday, so I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Time to play some golf

Simulator golf is on my horizon. Wednesday night at Fox Hollow I am scheduled to play some fake golf with Devery Prince and Dave Jennings. I will let you know how this goes.

The Fork

The 17th hole at the Moose Run Hill course might be one of the best in Alaska, especially for match-play purposes. The par-4 has a challenging green with lots of twisting slopes that make it tough to read any putt. The green is accessible from any distance, as there are no hazards. From the tee, […]

How long before we have an Alaskan DeChambeau?

Bryson DeChambeau won a European Tour event today. It’s his first win overseas, but his fourth win in his last nine starts. He is now ranked No. 5 in the world. Is there an Alaskan kid out there thinking they should start studying physics? DeChambeau is famously known as the mad scientist of golf. He […]

Bender

The 16th hole at the Moose Run Hill Course will be called Bender. A double meaning persists here, as the ideal tee shot is a bender from left to right. The perfect tee shot can make this par-4 about 50 yards shorter than a poor tee shot that stays to the left of the fairway. […]

Eagleglen could not be found on Xbox

I was excited about looking up Eagleglen on The Golf Club video game after Bill Preston announced he created a digital version of the old, abandoned course Thursday. Unfortunately, as Preston feared, the course could not be found on Xbox. So, it is likely it can only be found on home simulators. If you have […]

Eagleglen is open for business

It’s not the real Eagleglen, but Bill Preston has designed a digital replica and uploaded it onto The Golf Club server. The Golf Club is a video game company with games sold on Xbox and perhaps other consoles. They also have simulator services for those with golf simulators, according to Preston. Eagleglen, hands down the […]

Prairie

The 15th hole at Moose Run Hill Course is a wide-open chance to let the driver fly, so I’ll call it Prairie. If you get really wild off the tee, you can find tree trouble, but if you can keep a decent swing and strike that sweet spot, a long drive can give you a […]

Two-Minute Warning

There are a few names I could go with for the 14th hole at the Moose Run Hill Course, but since the Super Bowl is around the corner, I’m going with Two-Minute Warning. The 14th is a little mid-range par-3 protected by a bunker in the front left. The green entry is a little slot […]

Can new equipment actually improve your game?

Taking a little break from the Alaska commentary, I noticed a big advertisement today for new clubs of all sorts. I believe the ad was for an article rating the newest equipment. It’s always fun to think about a new club or two; there’s nothing like holding that brand new stick in your hand, but […]
