Dead Man’s Walk

There is a book by that title, written by Larry McMurtry, the same McMurtry who wrote the famous Lonesome Dove story. Dead Man’s Walk is a prequel to that story.

The book’s title refers to a particularly brutal stretch of desert in Mexico that the book’s characters have to traverse by foot and barely survive. For Alaska golf purposes, I am assigning that name to a special patch of asphalt at the Creek Course at Moose Run.

The walk from the 16th green to the 17th tee will forever be known as Dead Man’s Walk. It is appropriate because anyone walking that course is usually a bit tired after 16 holes and usually the penal Creek Course has beaten you up pretty bad.

Fatigue and humiliation make Dead Man’s Walk a not-so-fun 10-minute stroll.
