A fitting conclusion

By now, most who care probably understand the Alaska Golf Blog is deceased. I’ve decided to take things a step further this year and halt all coverage of local golf tournaments, making last summer’s coverage of Rich Teders winning the state match play title the last of such articles I will write.

It’s appropriate to end things with a win by Teders as his name is sort of what started the AGB Rankings. It was Chad Isaacs who complained bitterly that I had ranked Teders ahead of him. I explained if he didn’t like it, he could play a match with Teders and prove me wrong. He never did seek a match, but now Teders has a state title and Isaacs does not, so I guess that debate is settled.

As I toy around with a new direction for my writing and my golf, I am coming up with some new ideas for competition. The local tournament schedule has evolved nicely in Alaska. Those wishing to compete can find some kind of tournament nearly every week in July and August.

Golf season in Alaska starts in June and that’s when I hope to initiate a new type of competition involving The Grint and the defending state match play champ. The experiment will involve a small, select group of golfers to start. If you want to be included in the future, start posting those scores on The Grint, which has officially partnered with the USGA this year.
