Pressure reaches the biggest golfers on the smallest of stages

Pressure is felt by all golfers at different levels at different times. Even the No. 1 golfer in the AGB rankings feels pressure when he plays in a mini tournament like the AGB Legends last weekend.

“There’s probably more pressure on me to not lose,” said Rob Nelson, who made a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole Saturday to keep from losing the first Legends tournament to Adam Baxter. “Which is good, because there isn’t very much you get to play in up here anymore where you feel pressure.”

We all have those putts to make from time to time, whether it be to win a challenge match, a tournament or just a chance at a skin in a casual game. So, how did Nelson manage such pressure on that last putt Saturday?

“I made sure I kept my head still and just didn’t try to find any reason why it couldn’t go in and, you know, just give yourself every opportunity to hit a good putt.” Nelson said. “Fortunately, that one caught the inside of the hole and went in.”
