Can losing weight cause you to lose your golf game?

Many have seen TV pros lose significant weight and lose their game as a result, or so it sometimes is perceived. Adam Baxter lost 30 pounds in the past 16 months and 75 pounds since moving to Anchorage a few years ago. Has his game changed as a result?

After he shot 72 in the Legends tournament last weekend to share the title with his instructor Rob Nelson, it would appear the weight loss hasn’t effected Baxter’s usual steady play, but Baxter struggled through some rounds this spring during golf vacations Outside.

“Rob was really instrumental in helping me,” Baxter said. “I had some timing issues with the weight loss and he gave me a drill to get my body and my hands timed up.”

Baxter is excited about the summer to come and the next post will address how a top champion like Baxter approaches his preparation for tournament play.
