Every shot counts in the AGB Open

The first AGB Open will revolve heavily around the AGB rankings. The winner of Saturday’s 18-hole event will become No. 1 in the rankings and all other players have an opportunity to either make the rankings or rise in them.

Players who are already ranked have the opportunity to fall down the list or off of it completely. If a top-10 player comes out and shoots 88 at Anchorage Golf Course, he likely won’t be in the top 10 after Saturday. Anyone in the field who shoots lower than that player will advance ahead of that player in the rankings.

There will be no live leader board for monitoring other scores and all participants will be asked not to communicate with other competitors or non-competitors until after all scores and rankings are posted here at akgolfblog.com on Saturday night.

There will be some small prizes available for all AGB Open players to win, but the real prize is the ranking. If this experimental event goes well, it will likely occur every summer on U.S. Open weekend to provide a chance for any golfer in Alaska to show up and show us all what he’s made of without having to schedule a challenge match with a stranger.
