The Ladle

Sticking with a food theme for the second hole at Anchorage Golf Course, we’ll nickname it the Ladle.

The sharp dogleg right dives into a grassy bowl just before heading up to the green and from above, the hole resembles a sort of curved ladle, like something you would use to dish up a giant bowl of soup.

Some people like to drive the ball all the way down into the depression and leave themselves a short pitch from what is usually a rough lie, as they don’t always mow the cavity like a fairway. If you prefer fairway and better odds of a level lie, hit it straight away off the tee, roughly 220 yards and you will be left with about 100 yards to a sloped green.

The green at No. 2 is one of the most severely sloped on the course, with every putt breaking hard back toward the grassy bowl short of the green. It’s wise to keep your approach shot below the hole if possible, or you’ll have to break out your awesome putting touch on a tricky downhill, sidehill swinger.
