UAA basketball was a hit

A while ago, I visited a UAA basketball game for the first time in years. As I suspected, the game itself was an easy November win for the Seawolves. The new arena was much nicer than the old and I definitely will be back.

There seemed to be a lot more dunking in pre-game warmups than I remember in the past. My 8-year-old nephew even asked if the rims were same height as NBA rims. Of course, I confirmed to him that they were indeed 10-foot rims.

There were only a couple of dunks during the game, which as I mentioned, was not competitive. UAA owned a distinct size advantage across the entire roster.

The concession stand was nice, clean and full of fun options. My nephew ordered a large popcorn and later declared that a mistake. He was too full, but too into the game to get up for a bathroom break.

He seemed most surprised by the physical nature of the game, as lots of bumping and jostling was going on and many players hitting the deck hard. Grown-up basketball was a little different than his junior rec league.

The arena wasn’t especially full, but upon leaving, it felt there were a lot of people meandering into a parking lot packed with cars. A glance around the arena would cause an estimate of a third full at best.

As, I explained to my nephew, the important basketball games will come along in March, so we will see if we can find a good match up.
